So the other day I recieved my calendar for the new year and I had a quick leaf through as I am wont to do. I ordered a Buffy one because I was presented with several potentially good calendars and decided to go with one I knew would be really good, rather than risk a potential fiasco like the Watchmen calendar from this year. Anyway it's all good. There's all the usual characters in there: Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles, Spike, Dawn, Anya Tara (looking practically unrecognisable). Oddly Cordelia, Angel and Oz all seem to be lacking pages in the calendar which I find odd. Maybe you don't Maybe you think 'well Cordelia and Angel are surely more suited to an Angel calendar seeing as they came to full fruition in the spinoff show of the same name, and Oz wasn't really in it for long enough to justify a full page in the calendar' and indeed you might be right if not for November 2011. Representing November 2011 is Riley! Remember Riley? That guy who Buffy went out with for a while who worked for 'The Initiative' and who nobody liked. Yeah that guy has his own calendar page. If this was twitter this is where I would say #calendarfail and then end the message because fuck this would be well too long for twitter, even with heavy editing I couldn't really get this down to 140 characters.

I was considering naming this entry: "And so dawns 2010, or if you're going by the calendar that hangs on my wall, 'And so dawns 2009 again'" but that sounded a bit wordy.

I bought this Watchmen calendar this year, because to be quite honest I had no idea what calendar to buy. In other years the choice has been clear. Heroes, Buffy, etcetera. This year the calendar that I really wanted, Dollhouse, doesn't actually exist. Nobody's bothered to make one. They're missing out on quite a tidy profit there I think. Think of all the literally dozens of fans Dollhouse has. If only one or two of those go out of their way to buy a calendar then they'd be laughing all the way to the bank. Anyway the Watchmen calendar, well I didn't much like the art in it. It didn't really resemble what I remember the art in the book looking like, and it definately didn't resemble the film. I think it was more one untalented man's interpretation of Watchmen. But hey as if that isn't enough it's some kind of bizarre sideways calendar that you have to have multiple hooks to hang on the wall, and then when you've got it hung up it looks all wrong and lopsided. In the end I put Buffy back up. I don't look at that whole grid bit at the bottom anyway. A decent Buffy calendar has to be worth about ten dodgy Watchmen calendars in my book.
