Doctor Who - Asylum of the Daleks

I know I normally only dig this thing out so I can bitch and moan about Doctor Who episodes that I hate, and that this probably looks like I'm about to launch into a massive spiel about how awful it was and blah blah blah. Actually the episode wasn't terrible. It wasn't fantastic either but it was okay.

Warehouse 13 3x11/12 - Emily Lake/Stand

Okay lets be honest I am reviewing these episodes mainly to have a dig at the one minor plot hole that annoyed me. Otherwise these episodes were pretty damn great. There was excitement, death, explosions, more death, redemption and yes more death. I don't know what else you could have possibly asked for. Assume during the following confused rant that I am actually very happy with these episodes and this is just a way to vent at the bizarre anomalous punishments one suffers at the hands of the Warehouse.

You know what I wonder, I wonder why a Lazy Susan is called a Lazy Susan. If you are not familiar with the gently spinning surface upon which foodstuffs can be placed and spun around very slowly then this entry won't make a whole heap of sense for you, except hey I guess I just neatly summarised the concept of a Lazy Susan for you so you can sit back relax and enjoy the rest of this well thought through analysis of the name Lazy Susan.

PopCo Is A Book I Am Reading

I am almost at the end of PopCo and I feel that my experience with this book could neatly be summed up in one sentence, as could the events that have occured so far in the book. By the way that sentence that you just read, that was the sentence I was talking about. Put in a less confusing manner: nothing seems to have really happened so far in this book. A coded message here, the main character catches a cold and as a child has to try and fit in in high school but very little of any note. I'm not sure whether there is just not much happening or whether I'm missing the point? Although come to think of it, it's the former.

A Take That Against News Media Everywhere!

Guess what I've decided to do even if it kills me? Well actually from your perspective guessing really isn't necessary because the answer is update my damn dreamwidth/livejournal thing. And if you can see this then I guess I've already done it, even if it did kill me, and so there's little point in guessing what might happen when that thing has already happened. Also if it turns out that this is simply too much for me to handle then you'll never see it and never be invited to speculate on what I am going to have already done. Okay now that incredibly confusing treatise on the nature of guessing and the past is complete I suppose I will just have to come up with some clever things to say about the world and then I can sod off to bed.

Dead Rising is Hard, I am Once Again Late to the Party

While I am well aware I may be speaking too soon I believe that after having managed to drag four survivors across a zombie infested courtyard, one of whom cannot walk, while convicts in a jeep shoot at me, and having all the survivors come out of the ordeal relatively unscathed I feel I may have already completed the hardest part of the Saint achievement in Dead Rising (the original). Fucking convicts.

I Am Really Good At Sticking To Things

The fact that I am not very good at sticking to one thing for very long is hardly a piece of information which was elucidated solely from the artvent fiasco. It is more a thing that I have known for a very long time and become frequently frustrated with myself about. Actually I am rather pleased that Artvent lasted as long as it did seeing as it was a spur of the moment idea, and one that required a lot of work for quite a minimal payoff (i.e. no payoff at all).

Why I Feel Sorry for November 2011

So the other day I recieved my calendar for the new year and I had a quick leaf through as I am wont to do. I ordered a Buffy one because I was presented with several potentially good calendars and decided to go with one I knew would be really good, rather than risk a potential fiasco like the Watchmen calendar from this year. Anyway it's all good. There's all the usual characters in there: Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles, Spike, Dawn, Anya Tara (looking practically unrecognisable). Oddly Cordelia, Angel and Oz all seem to be lacking pages in the calendar which I find odd. Maybe you don't Maybe you think 'well Cordelia and Angel are surely more suited to an Angel calendar seeing as they came to full fruition in the spinoff show of the same name, and Oz wasn't really in it for long enough to justify a full page in the calendar' and indeed you might be right if not for November 2011. Representing November 2011 is Riley! Remember Riley? That guy who Buffy went out with for a while who worked for 'The Initiative' and who nobody liked. Yeah that guy has his own calendar page. If this was twitter this is where I would say #calendarfail and then end the message because fuck this would be well too long for twitter, even with heavy editing I couldn't really get this down to 140 characters.

Todays picture is a snapshot from the same time period as the first. Some kind of apocalyptic scenario has turned the Principality of Jormungandr into a vast rolling desert. Jormungandr has found herself a new kingdom to rule; the liberated population of a floating city previously run by a perverted cult leader called Sister.

This picture is not an actual scene but more a sort of amalgamam of the entirity of The Great Unknowable Unknown; yet another spin-off of The Prinicpalities that I really should finish off at some point. The annoyed looking guy is Sue Sugarsnatch, who hates his name and his life. The green floaty Cortana lookalike is Ixcalibur, where I originally pinched the name from.

Well I certainly hope that my new feature is going to last a little bit longer than my reviewingess did. Every day I'm drawing a picture/composing a peice of music/writing a short peice of text (because hey writing is an art I'm pretty sure) for the purpose of... actually I'm not sure why I'm doing this. It's a december thing. They will all probably be set in The Principalities and the first one presents a bleak future for the Principality of Jormungandr.

Castle 3x01 - A Deadly Affair - Review

Castle is one of my favourite programs. I know essentially it's just a police procedural, of which there are many many many, but the brilliance of Castle is Nathan Fillion and the chemistry he has with Stana Katic, which admittedly is very little today as Beckett is pissed with Castle. Not only pissed with him for leaving and starting up a relationship with his ex-wife, but for coming back, not telling her and then ending up standing over every dead body in the city, or so it seems. While I understand precisely where she is coming from with regard to being so cold to Castle it was still a little difficult to watch because I was sat there wanting them to be back on good terms again, bantering about how Castle seemed to end up in the wrong place at the wrong time pretty damn consistently.

Gossip Girl 4x01 & 4x02 - Belles De Jour & Double Identities - Review

So it occurs to me that I have not reviewed Gossip Girl before, presumably because this was a thing I started watching after my last sporadic session of reviews drew to a close. In short my default position on Gossip Girl is that 1) Chuck/Blair are the best characters and have to be together 2) Nate is the least interesting character and consequently he can do what he wants as long as he doesn't actively try and split up Chuck and Blair for whatever reason 3) Everyone else is okay I guess and they can do whatever and 4) the best episodes contain Georgina Sparks.

Chuck 4x01 - Chuck Versus The Anniversary - Review

Yay! Chuck is back and there have been interesting developments in the meantime. I loved the end of the last series, it was one of those episodes that you sometimes get at the end of a series where the writers essentially say 'lets do this thing' or whatever and proceed to completely devestate the status quo of the series. Ellie found out about Chuck being a spy, Chuck's dad dies, the Buy More burns down and Jeff and Lester go on the run, Chuck promises not to be a spy any more, but secretly vows to track down his mother. I love episodes like that (WHAM episodes if you want to know what tvtropes labels them as) where anything can and will happen.

House 7x01 - What Now? - Review

So anyone who has had experience with my opinions on House in the past will know that the thing I have wanted for the longest time was for House and Cuddy to have a relationship and hey look, just when I get back into writing reviews they are having a real relationship. Or at least trying to have one with somewhat mixed success. While I'm all for the House/Cuddy relationship there were moments that were decidedly awkward that made even me question the viability of a successful relationship between the two of them. It seems like their relationship is really fragile, like one false move could send it careening into oblivion. I hope it doesn't of course, but it might.

Warehouse 13 2x11 & 2x12 - Buried & Reset - Review

So, hey, HG was a bad guy? Who would have guessed? Well everyone I suppose, but then again she was such a compelling character that part of me was hoping that she was genuine and god knows there were a couple of moments where I wasn't exactly sure. I'm kind of sad that she has gone, although I suppose technically speaking she isn't dead she could make some kind of a return. Although that does get me wondering about where they have taken her. I was given the distinct impression that it is some kind of awful place that Myka and Pete are best not knowing about, but in that same conversation the Bronze Vault was mentioned. Let's think about that one for a second why don't we? In the Bronze Vault you are encased in bronze and left there, frozen but aware, presumably forever. So that's a place in which people are trapped unable to move, unable to speak, unable to age or die, forever and ever, fully conscious. And this place where HG has been taken is so bad that it's best Myka and Pete don't know about it. You know what if it's that bad I don't want to know about it either, chances are it would be High Octane Nightmare Fuel. Oh and by the way in the massive gap in time I took from Livejournal/Dreamwidth tvtropes broke my mind, just so you know.

In Which I Try To Do Everything At Once

On the one hand I am currently playing Dragon Age: Origins, on another hand I am currently replaying Mass Effect in an effort to get all of the achievements (in fact at the moment I am stood in front of a Citadel Rapid Transport Terminal firing Neural Shocks as and when they become available), I am also reading The Dark Tower books (midway through The Wizard and The Glass), run a series of adventures on the MSPA Forums (though admittedly they haven't updated for a while), participate in a bunch of Grand Battles, rewrite The Principalities, write actual books, watch far too many TV programs (this includes catching up with programs with which I am not currently up to date) and watch all the films that have built up on my DVD/HDD recorder. This is to name a few.
